There's Magic All Around 🎄

It's a magical time of year...
There’s Magic All Around

By Sara Fox

Hush, what was that?

Did you hear that sound?

A twinkly, jingly ring

In the cold winter’s night.

Listen very carefully,

Could it really, really be?

Up above the rooftops,

There’s magic all around.

Look, what was that?

A streak across the sky,

Scattering a thousand stars

As reindeer swiftly fly

Are my eyes deceiving me?

Could it really, really be?

Up above the rooftops,

There’s magic all around.

Colours of Autumn 🍂

With misty mornings, shimmering spiders' webs and the changing colours of the leaves, Autumn is definitely the time of year when mother nature waves her magic wand.

Colours of Autumn

by Sara Fox

Autumn colours are ever-changing
In the trees and on the ground
Autumn leaves are rearranging
Tossed and blown with rustling sounds

Shades of green are disappearing
Emerald leaves once strong and bold
Lighter, brighter leaves are weary
Crimson, scarlet, russet, gold

Mr Scarecrow 🌾

Are scarecrows really so scary? Here is a poem inspired by all those friendly scarecrows...

Mr Scarecrow
by Sara Fox

Mr Scarecrow, I don't know
How you even scare the crows?
You don't look scary with your friendly smile
So why don't the birds just stop a while?

Mr Scarecrow, I don't know
Why the birds fly away home?
Instead of stopping by to play
With a friendly scarecrow made of hay.

Mr Scarecrow, I will stay
And talk to you  this sunny day.
I like your hat and your friendly smile
So here I'll stay with you a while

Sunflowers 🌻

This poem is inspired by a beautiful gift I received from a friend a few days ago.

Sunflowers

by Sara Fox

Sunflowers
Fun flowers
A sign that summer's come flowers
Strong and sturdy stalks
Reaching for the sky

Sunflowers
Fun flowers
For busy bees to hum flowers
Crowns of petals gold
And treasured seeds to find

Summer Holidays ☀️

This poem celebrates the season of Summer.

Bunting

by Sara Fox

Bunting, bunting, everywhere
Bandstand concert, Summer fair,
Toyshop window, village square,
Seaside café, in the air.

Bunting, bunting, checks and spots
Stripes and flowers, polka dots.
Blowing gently in the breeze
Flipping, flapping in the trees.

Bunting, bunting, Summer's here!
Joyful times with claps and cheers
Tied with string and loving care
Bunting, bunting, everywhere!

Springtime 🐦

This poem was inspired by some nesting sparrows in my garden this spring.

The Magnificent Nest-Building Race

by Sara Fox

It's Springtime! It's Springtime!
Make haste! Make haste!
Calling all garden birds,
Beaks at the ready...
It's time for the magnificent nest building race!

So blackbird and blue tit,
Robin and thrush,
Starling and sparrow,
Come join in the rush!

To find bendy twigs,
To weave and construct,
Nests strong and sturdy,
To hold your new clutch.

Tirelessly, swiftly,
You've worked with your beaks.
In treetops and bushes,
Your nests are complete.

You're all truly winners,
With your nest-building skills.
So flap your wings proudly,
Sing loudly and shrill!

It's Springtime! It's Springtime!
So keep a close eye...
Soon there'll be fledglings
Flying up to the sky.
